Letterkenny man John McHugh traveled to Dublin this weekend to compete in the Irish Drug-Free Powerlifting Federation’s Push and Pull Powerlifting Competition and won first place!

John had the best lift of the day with an impressive 230kg bench press and an incredible 255kg deadlift!

John will be travelling to Belgium for more shows and is hoping to break a world record!

Training twice a day with Motiva8 Fitness in Letterkenny, John has a lot more powerlifting and strong man events lined up for 2017.

John was 2.5kg off beating the World Drug-Free Bench Press Record which has stood since 2012, and is aiming to smash this record at the next competition.

If anyone would like to sponsor John in his future competitions you can get in touch with his wife Lyndsey on Facebook by clicking here.
