IT WAS WITH mmense pride that the gymnasts of Finesse Gymnastics Display Club, in Letterkenny wowed a packed audience at their Friends and Family Showcase which was held in the LYIT Sports Hall last Saturday.
All four of the classes, consisting of 74 gymnasts had worked extremely hard over the past year and this has been recognised by personal achievements, Gymnastics Ireland GymSTART Awards as well as success at events and competitions.
At the showcase each class performed three times; a choreographed group routine, a choreographed group dance and a short display of skills on floor, vault and trampette. The performances at the showcase afforded the friends and families of the wonderful gymnasts a chance to witness and experience the hard work and progression that have taken place within the club over the past year.
Before the end of the show the club formally announced its biggest achievement to date. 20 gymnasts from the club have been selected to represent Ireland at the 3rd World Gym for Life Challenge which will take place in Norway in July 2017. This is the world championships for display gymnastics, formally known as the disciple of GFA. The club is honoured at this massive achievement as well as the gymnasts who will prepare for this competition in the forthcoming year.
The club wish to acknowledge the hard work done by the committee over the past year and for making the showcase a success as well as the wonderful supportive parents who donated prizes for the raffle. A special thank you to local businesses who sponsored prizes for the event.
