Underage

Its Finals Galore for our younger footballers over the last 2 weeks.

U14  Championship.
The u14 boys had 2 games this week. 1st up was their group championship game away to Robert Emmetts. While the boys were warned it would be a tough game, the boys started with a below standard performance. As a result they came away with a draw in a game they know they should have won. Possibly the lads had their eye on their league final, but they now need to win both championship games this week to progress.

U14 all county league final:
A few changes were forced onto management in the run up to the game. As a result players were asked to dig deep and play in positions that they weren’t use. This they did with effort and skill being displayed in a tight 1st half which Buncrana lead 1-7 to 1-3. The lads were determined to come home with the title and in the 2nd half they never missed a tackle and our foot passing was at the standard expected to win at this level. Kilcar had moved their dangerman no.14

Eoin Cormaic out into midfield to get ball (and a rest from Evan McCallion) but this ended their attacking threat and the Buncrana boys played some excellent football to win their 2nd trophy of the season. The whole squad played their part and indeed our own no.14 Ryan Hegerty played most of the 2nd half with a dislocated finger…So a big congratulations to the whole squad, Manager Adain Mullholland, coaches Finn Hegarty and William Friel and to our large loud loyal support on the night.

U12 Boys Football

U12 Boys A team played a tough Northern Board Final against a strong St Eunans in Burt with them losing by 1 point was a hard pill to swallow but they still have another change when the meet Four Masters in the All-County Semi Final on the 15th August.

The Development team on the other hand came out triumphant winner against Eunans B with a win of 4 points

U10 Boys  football
The whole squad and management were looking forward to being tested by probably some of the best U10’s teams in the county. Each team had to play 6 games and in a league format with the 1vs 2, 3 vs 4 and 5 vs 6.

The ‘A’ team were a bit sluggest in their 1st few games but won against Burt and drew with Carn. Next up was Malin and the Buncrana lads had finally got used to the quick match format and won a tight game 6-4. By beating Urris both Muff and Buncrana were unbeaten and agreed not to play their league game but just to play in the Final. Being the last match of the day all teams and players from all clubs watched on to see the outcome.

However, the Buncrana lads were now in their stride and got better with each game and although (as results show), Muff were a good team the Buncrana boys showed great determination and great skill in winning the match 8-3, with a 4 to 1 2nd half display.

The development team had a similar format but found the opposition very strong. They also were getting better with each game and their skills were improving. They were unlucky to lose out in their play-off game against Moville. Well done to Leo and all coaches and parents. Also well done to the Carn Club and the Inishowen board for their hospitality and a well run competition.

U8 Football

Inishowen Finals Day was held in Malin last week, with our club fielding 3 boys and 1 Girls team.  These children put their hearts and soul into all games and left Malin tired but happy children.  Big Thanks to the U8 Squad, The Managers Claire Doherty (Girls) and Marty Coyle (Boys) their coaches, and to the loyal  parents who are on the sideline giving 100% encouragement.

U12 Girls

Our U12 Girls played in the Inishowen league final on a very wet Sunday evening.  Unfortunately Malin were the stronger team on the day winning outright 6-5 to 3-1.  These girls put up an excellent performance and each player were a credit to their club.  Big Thank you to Manager Catriona Sweeney & Claire Mc Carron for all your hard work throughout the year.

U12 Hurling

Buncrana U12 hurlers played Aodh ruadh on Thursday night which lead them to a convincing win. Buncrana was very lethargic  in the first half which there wasn’t  many scores. When the boys came out in the second half you would think it was a completely different team. They really dominated from the start by taking some brilliant scores. Well done Next up Carndonagh on Thursday night in the scarvey  everyone welcome for support
