DONEGAL SPORT HUB has been nominated for an award in the Realex Payments 2016 Web and Content Awards.

Donegal Sport Hub has been included among the nominations in the Best Sports News Site category.

Donegalsporthub.com is included alongside balls.ie, sportsjoe.ie backpagefootball.com, benchwarmers.ie, extratime.ie, goal.com, boxingnewsandviews.com, sportsnewsireland.com and arseblog.com in the category.

Donegal Sport Hub was founded in July 2015 by Charlie Collins, Chris McNulty and Alan Foley.

Since launching 13 months ago, Donegal Sport Hub has had almost 3million page views from 500,000 users in 184 countries.

As well as being a local, solely-dedicated sports website – the first of its kind in the country – Donegal Sport Hub has introduced platforms on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Google Plus, YouTube and Soundcloud.

“Our first year has gone beyond our wildest dreams and we are over the moon and proud that our site has been nominated for this award,” Charlie Collins said.

“The calibre of the sites in the category shows the esteem that Donegal Sport Hub is already held in.

“We must thank our main partners, the Radisson Blu Hotel in Letterkenny, first and foremost. Their assistance and support has been vital.

“We thank all of our sponsors and advertisers who have shown faith and support in Donegal Sport Hub.

“We are indebted to the assistance of the PROs and photographers, who have ensured that the site has become the place where Donegal sports fans can get their ‘sporting fix in just one click’.

“We have also utilsed a large array of audio and video production teams, web and graphic designers in the last year.

“Most importantly of all, we have to thank the sporting public of Donegal, and indeed the county’s many sports people who have given so freely and willingly of their time, without which it wouldn’t have been possible for Donegal Sport Hub to become such a success.”

In June, Donegal Sport Hub broke new ground with a live broadcast of the three days of the 2016 Joule Donegal International Rally, which attracted over 100,000 viewers.

Donegal Sport Hub also hosted the launch of the 2016 Michael Murphy Sports Donegal GAA Championships and last year held a live podcast at the Radisson Blue Hotel, Letterkenny.

Charlie Collins added: “The world of media and indeed social media is rapidly evolving and we aim to continue to keep pace with these developments.”

The winners of the Realex Payments 2016 Web and Content Awards will be announced at a function in Dublin on September 28.
