BUNCRANA WOMAN Rena McCarron-Rooney makes her exit from the 2016 Paralympic Games following a quarter-final defeat to world number one Seo Su-Yeon.

McCarron-Rooney, now a double Paralympian having also competed in London four years ago, went down 3-0 to the Korean.

“She’s the one lady I didn’t want to meet,” McCarron-Rooney said to RTÉ Sport afterwards.

“I needed a little bit of luck not to get her. I put in an okay performance. I suppose I found it hard to believe I could beat her, she’s just so physically strong.

“I’m disappointed I didn’t win but I played as well as I could.”

McCarron-Rooney had two games yesterday in her group, losing to the reigning Paralympic champion Jing Liu from China before beating Maha Bargouthi from Jordan last night to make it into the last eight.
