THERE IS NO place for Letterkenny-born cyclist Philip Deignan on Team Sky’s roster for the Tour de France.

Sir Dave Brailsford, Team Sky’s manager, appeared on Sky Sports today to confirm the nine-man team for the event.

Neither of Deignan or fellow Irishman Nicholas Roche have been included.

This year, Deignan has competed in the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali, the Strade Bianche and the Giro d’Italia for Team Sky.

Having been overlooked for selection for the Tour, Deignan will now hope to get the nod for the Vuelta a España in September.

Chris Froome is joined on Team Sky’s squad for the Tour by Luke Rowe, Geraint Thomas, Ian Stannard, Mikel Landa, Mikel, Sergio Henao, Wout Poels and Vasil Kiriyenka.
