Philip Deignan finished well in the Ruta del Sol to conclude in 19th place overall.
Deignan had climbed superbly to help Team Sky team-mate Wout Poels win stage two of the race.
Deignan’s task was to aid Poels and Chris Froome, but he threw in a fine finale in the time trial.
The experienced Letterkenny man wouldn’t be regarded as a TT ace, but he finished it in 20th place and ended 19th overall as he proved his worth to the star-studded team.
