McLaughlin to have scan as fears grow ahead of All-Ireland quarter-final

GERALDINE McLaughlin will have a scan this week to determine the extent of a knee injury sustained while playing for Termon this afternoon.

McLaughlin (pictured above) had scored 2-6 when she went down awkwardly on her knee in the first minute of the second half.

Termon went on to win 4-11 to 1-6..

“It’s hard to say how bad it is, but it’s the same knee that she had surgery on after our season ended last year,” Termon manager Francie Friel told Donegal Sport Hub.

“She went for the first ball of the second half and just banged the knee off the ground and I knew by the roar it wasn’t good.

“I went on and she just said to me: ‘It’s gone again’. We took her off.”

Early indications are that McLaughlin has suffered cartilage damage to the knee, but will be assessed by medics to confirm.

Donegal ladies manager Davy McLaughlin will be concerned about the fitness of his ace forward ahead of their All-Ireland quarter-final against Armagh on Saturday-week, August 22nd, in Clones.

McLaughlin scored 2-7 last month as Donegal won their first ever Ulster Senior Ladies titles with a 2-12 to 1-10 win over Monaghan.

Meanwhile, in the Donegal senior ladies final Termon will take on Glenfin on September 13th.
