St Johnston man Shane McGinty started for Ballinamallard having made the move from Institute recently.

McConnell, who was at Manchester United until being released last summer, netted a first half equaliser after Stephen Lowry’s opener and Linfield secured a 2-1 win through a long-range effort by Kirk Millar, catching Mallards goalkeeper James McGrath off his line.

Ballinamallard are managed by former Finn Harps assistant manager Gavin Dykes.
