17-year-old Letterkenny woman Shauna Mc Fadden has officially joined Ireland’s first ever all-women’s cycling team.

The Loretto Letterkenny student will begin competing in 2018 with Meath-based TC Racing.

Racing since the age of ten, Shauna has achieved remarkable results over the years, securing a spot with a top English ladies team, Team Jadan-Weldtite, for the 2017 season.

When she was just fourteen, she secured a win in the Ulster Road Championships before representing Ireland in the Youth Tour of Scotland.

In 2015, she won the Rás Mayo, and even raced for the Irish Youth Olympic Team in 2015.

Her cycling has taken her across the world, attending training camps in Sierra Nevada in Spain in 2015.

Just last year, Shauna placed second overall in the Phoenix GP in Belfast, and came home with the gold in the McCann Cup in Omagh.

A spokesperson for TC Racing says: “Shauna is joining the team as a senior rider and will be putting all her youth and junior experience into play in 2018.

“Welcome on board Shauna!
