The club is honoured to have so many of our club members making the trip to Dublin this weekend where there are two different inter-provincial competitions taking place.
Representing the Ulster Senior League in their tournament will be Johnathan Minnock, Paul McVeigh, Darren McElwaine, Jonny Bonner. Stephen Doherty and Mark Forker while club chairman Dessie Kelly will also be in the official delegation as part of the USL executive.
A number of other club members including Vice Chairman Victor Fisher are also scheduled to make the trip to the capital and we wish them and the USL side the very best as they aim to retain the Michael Ward Trophy as they play three games in three days.
The Ulster Schools side are also in Dublin for their inter-provincial tournament and the team is managed by Paul Browne. Sean Friel is our sole playing representative on this panel while a number of former players are also in the travelling party. We wish them all well with the tournament kicking off on Friday afternoon.
The club was delighted to learn of the Tidy Towns success winning the national award during the week. Years and years of hard week has gone into this award and we would like to extend our congratulations to the hard working committees both past and present.
On field action last week was very busy with again some mixed results.
Our seniors got the perfect start to the League campaign when they defeated Bonagee 4-2 at Leckview. Goalscorers were Stevie Okakpo-Emeka and Paul McVeigh with two goals apiece. No game for seniors this week due to interpros but back in action on Sunday week (October 11th) against Derry City.
Our u19s lost out at Sligo Rovers 6-0 and will have a much needed break this weekend before 2 mouthwatering ties against Derry City and Finn Harps which are next on the agenda.
Schoolboy results last weekend saw the u16s draw 1-1 with Bonagee. Michael Gallagher on the mark with a penalty for Rovers.
U14 action saw Rovers have a great win at Glenea with Joel Gorman and Ciaran Moore on the mark there although Crusaders went down to an 11-0 nil defeat against Swilly Rovers. United lost out at Swilly Ramblers 4-2 with Mohammed and Sean Pascual the scorers but man of the match to Sean Connolly who performed heroics in goal for TK McFeeleys men.
Mixed results for the u12s with Rovers losing out in SFAI Cup action at Cappry 5-3 after extra time. Goals coming from Danny McLaughlin, Lorcan Harvey and Corey McCarron in that one.
Our u12s Crusaders had a big 13-0 win over Gweedore United. Scorers were Mark Bonner x4, Reid Kelly x2, Oisin McCann x2, Brian Gallagher x2, Brian Drumm x2 and Kian McGrath.
A quieter weekend ahead with only 3 teams in action.
Our 12s Crusaders side are at Bonagee on Friday evening against Bonagee Arcade at 530pm.
There is SFAI National U13 Cup action at Leckview on Saturday at 1145am when Rovers face Milford Utd while Sunday sees U14 action as United play Bonagee.
Tickets are still on sale for our annual draw and can be sourced via any club member. Your support would be appreciated and tickets are priced at 10 euro.
Minilotto numbers this week are 3-6-8-16.
3 winners get 25 euro each.
Arthur McLoone, Slevin Family and Liam Harkin match 3 and win 25 euro.
Jackpot next week is 2850 euro
Club Bingo continues in the Station House Hotel on Thursday nights at 830pm. Snowball is 1400 euro on 45 numbers or less.
