Letterkenny Golf Club held The Radisson Blue Hotel Open last Wednesday with great success, with a large turnout for the competition.

Club notes

Eamonn McDermott (away) took first prize with a great score of 40 pts (bot) and also won best Gross.

Eamon had 13 pars, 2 birdies (on 17th & 18th) and 3 bogeys. Kevin Kiely (7.2) was runner up (40 pts).

Kevin also had a great game of golf with 9 pars, 3 birdies (on 1st, 7th & 8th).. Jackie Duffy (18.7) took third place with a score of 39pts.

There was a large turnout for the Golf Classic on Saturday 11th which was sponsored by Browns on the Green.  Forty-five teams in total turned out on the day.

The winning team consisted of Jack McGarrigle, Eunan McGarrigle, Ciaran McEldowney and Dermot Higgins scoring 92pts.

The best ladies team consisted of Captain Angela Bradley, Tracy Spence, Celine Margey, and Grainne Hines scoring 87pts. The longest drive for Gents went to Simon Stephens and for the Ladies Captain Angela Bradley. Nearest to the pin for Gents went to Eamonn Doherty (Buncrana Golf Club) and Ladies went to Pauline Curley. The course was in great shape and a good days golf was had by all.

The Sunday Members Competition on May 12 was won by Henry O’Brien (20.1) with an excellent score of 42pts. Henry took 5 pars out of the course. Simon Stephens (1.8) was runner up with 40pts.

Simon had an Eagle on the 11th with 3 birdies (15th, 16th & 17th) along with 11 pars and 3 bogeys. Peter Cavanagh (24.8) was in third place with 39 pts. Anthony Kernan (6.7) won Gross with 38pts.

John Russell took his team to Portsalon on Sunday to compete in the Pierce Purcell Qualifiers.  Letterkenny took top spot with a score of 357 and now play Rosapenna in Portsalon in the next round. Well done to John and the team.

Chris Nee will be heading to Crossgar on Sunday with his All Ireland Fourball Team.

Letterkenny is going there five up, however, it’s a difficult course to compete on so the team know there are no foregone conclusions.

The popular Cat 4 Competitions are run every Monday evenings. Last week on 06/05/19 Josef Dadon was the winner with 26 pts over 13 holes.

Upcoming Events

On Saturday, May 18 the Dyslexia Association Letterkenny Branch are holding a Classic, €100 per team of 4 Male/Female.

On Sunday, May 19th we have the Hegarty Ford Auto Services Open and on Wednesday, May 22nd the Jimmy Gallagher PGA Open.
