Letterkenny 24/7 notes – Siobhan Gallagher first woman home at Velocity Man Triathlon in Moville

This weekend saw club members take part in a number of events all around the county and country. On Saturday a large contingent headed to Omagh and the Tri the Lough Sprint Triathlon.

Siobhan Gallagher (pictured above) was the best result for the club finishing third woman overall behind her team mates from the Triathlon Ireland Performance squad. John Conaghan was again showing consistent racing and claimed first in his age group for two weeks running after clinching the same accolade in Ennis the week prior.

Anne Robinson, who only completed her first triathlon a few weeks ago, took second in her age group and her sister, Emma McGee was third in hers. There was strong performances all around from the club participants with some notable improvements.

On Sunday, three members took part in the Velocity Man Triathlon in Moville and hosted by Triangle Triathlon club who are based in Limavady.

Siobhan Gallagher, fresh from her race the day before in Omagh, took first place in the women’s section, with Orlaith Fogarty in second place and Colin Dean took first in his age group. No timed results were available at time of going to print.

Loughrea, Co. Galway also hosted a Sprint triathlon on Sunday, George Rahani completed his race in 1.26.04. Club junior Aoibheann O’Grady was also racing in a shorter distance and completed her race in 51.46 and 4th in her age group.

The Danny McDaid 15Km road race in Letterkenny on Sunday was also a draw for a number of club members. Gavin Crawford was first 24/7 racer across the finish line in 53.52. Margaret and Pauric Kelly and Damian McGoohan used the race as part of their training block for the Ironman Copenhagen in a few weeks. Liam Tinney was pleased with his time of 1.1033 given that he had raced in Omagh the day before.
