TWIN TOWNS BC’s Donna Barr is in action tonight in the Irish National Elite Senior semi-final at 48kgs when she takes on Carrickmacross puncher Alexandra Kornaga.

Barr, who was recently crowned Ulster senior champion by way of a walkover win, has been drawn in the semi-final, with the winner to meet Edenderry’s Lauren Hogan in next weekend’s final.

Strabane native Barr has been on the rise and will be hoping to make a mark at The National Stadium.

The IABA are running the National Elites twice this year to assist Ireland’s boxers heading into the Olympic qualifiers in 2016.

Barr and Kornaga have recent previous to reference heading into tonight’s bout on the South Circular Road.

Prior to entering the Ulster Senior Championships, Barr won the 51kgs title at the prestigious Celtic Box Cup in Dungarvan in September, when she defeated Kornaga on a majority decision.

Carrigart’s Maeve McCarron – who was beaten in the Ulster senior final by Caroline Connolly – has a final to look forward to next Friday night as she takes on Garda’s Diana Campbell at 81+kgs.
