Donegal U14 girls played in the Division 4 Ulster Blitz held in Truagh, Co Monaghan at the weekend.

They started with a match against Monaghan winning 4-3 to 0-0.

Next up was Tyrone B and despite a fighting display from a young team, Donegal were physically stronger and ran out convincing winners. Attention then turned to Monaghan who they played in the final and with a flying start led 2-4 to 0-1 at half time.

Monaghan battled hard in the second half but the Donegal girls held out to win the Shield by 2-4 to 0-1. Captain Caoimhe Doherty from Letterkenny Gaels was presented with the Shield by Rosemary Hughes-Merry (pictured below).

Donegal retained the Shield as 16 of the players were in the team that won last year. Donegal will now play in Division 3 next year. This was a comprehensive display from all squad members. The girls have improved both individually and as a team since last year. Congratulations to manager Manus O’Donnell and mentors.
