On what was a very wet and cold day Cranford AC had seven athletes travel to the Mary Peters Track in Belfast to compete in the Northern Ireland and Ulster Track and Field Championship.

Teresa Mullen got the day off to a great start winning the long Jump U15 with a new PB of 5.09m and claiming the Ulster title.

Teresa now goes on to compete in the Nationals in July.

Jessica Cullen was up next and, in her first Ulster competition, she gained vital experience competing at this level. Cullen competed in the long jump getting placed 7th overall and ran a very good 200m.

Nazara McFadden took part in the 100m with a strong run but just missed out on the final.

Orla Neely took to the field next with a great day for Orla getting a PB in both the Shot Put and the Javelin, coming 4th in the Javelin Orla now qualifies for the Nationals in Tullamore in July.

Clodagh Neely also had a very good day winning a silver medal in the Javelin U14 throwing over 15m – this her first Ulsters in this event and now qualifies for the Nationals in July. Clodagh also had a good run in the 800m.

Eoin Friel was up next in the 800m, Eoin had a good strong run but carrying an ankle injury found it tougher than it should have been. Hopefully, we’ll see him back in form soon.

Last up for Cranford was Oisin Kelly who was running in the 800m U16.

Oisin coming off the back off his 1500m win last week was looking for the double and he did not disappoint with a great race.

Oisin took to the front and settled in well with five of them breaking away from the rest of the field, with 300m to go Oisin made his sprint for home and there was no stopping him crossing the line first and Being crowned Ulster Champion twice in two weeks – what a great result for this young athlete.

Oran McMenamin also ran last weekend at the Ulsters in the 1500m and had a fine performance coming home in 7th place.

Well done to all our Athletes who done so well, thanks to our coaches and all the parents who helped out on the day.
