Ann Currie wins at Lady Captain’s Day in Rosapenna

The Lady Captain, Claire Lenny, hosted her Lady Captain’s Day on Saturday 11th June. There was a great turn-out on the day with lady members, gents and visitors competing in an 18 hole singles stableford competition over Old Tom Morris Links.

Longest Drive at the 18th – Deirdre O’Neill

Lady Captains Prize to the Gents

Gents 1st – Hugh McBride (22) 40pts bot

Gents 2nd – Peter Smyth (12) with 40pts

Gents 3rd – Patrick McClafferty (10) with 38pts

Two’s – Peter Warburton & Denis Harkin 21e each.

 

Good luck to team captain Sheila Breen and her team as they take on City of Derry G.C in the second round of the Revive Active Ladies four-ball competition on Wednesday 15th June.  Good luck to team captain Eileen Magill and her team as they play Cruit Island G.C in the away leg of the Maire O’Donnell on Monday 20th June.

Juniors
Congratulations to Aobha Gallagher, Aisling Green and Narbhflaith Duggan, Junior girl category winners on Lady Captains Day.
Lady Captain, Claire Lenny, presented all the junior girls with prizes at the practice ground. Noel Callen, PGA professional and Clíona Murphy, Junior Golf Convenor attended also.
Gents Results
The gents singles stableford played over the Old Tom Morris Links
on Sunday June 12th was won by John Casey 8 with 37pts.
The runner up was Kieran Gallagher 14 with 33pts. 
Two’s – 16e rollover to Sunday the 19th.
Team Golf
Congratulations to the Barton Shield team who have reached the last
16 in Ulster for the 5th consecutive year under playing captain 
Frank Casey Jnr. In Murvagh last Sunday Rosapenna beat Fintona by
11 holes in the 1st round and then overcame Portadown in the 2nd round
that same afternoon by 2 holes. Rosapenna will now play North-West G.C
back in Murvagh on Sunday July 17th.
Well done to the Ulster Cup team captained by Denis Harkin who had a great
win over Warrenpoint at home last Sunday. Trailing 6-1 after the away leg leg, 
Rosapenna won 6.5-0.5 at home over the Old Tom Morris Links to win the
tie and reach the fourth round where they will now face Kirkistown Castle (away first).

The Minor League team had an equally impressive win over Cruit Island
on Sunday winning 2.5 matches from 5 away from home to win the tie 5.5-4.5. 
Well done to team captain Charlie McBride and to all the players.
The Mixed Foursomes team will face Banbridge at Omagh G.C in the last
16 in Ulster on Monday June 27th at 5.00pm. Best wishes to team
captains Terri McBride & Peter Smyth and all the players.
Competitions 
Mr Brian Currie will hold his 2016 Captain’s Day on Saturday the 25th of June over the 
Old Tom Morris Links. The timesheet is now open, there will be an open draw within
30 minute gaps, contact The Pavilion Golf Shop to enter your name.
There are still spaces available for the club classic which takes place this coming Saturday 
the 18th over the Sandy Hills Links, contact the golf shop for all tee time enquiries. 
Golf Fees
All yearly membership fees are now overdue and should be paid without delay in The Pavilion Golf Shop. 
Matchplay Competitions 
The 2016 Michael Bonner Singles Matchplay entry sheet is now available in The Pavilion Golf Shop, 
entry fee is €8.00 per player. The 2016 Mixed Foursomes & Gents Doubles Matchplay draws are both 

posted on the members notice board in the front foyer of the Golf Pavilion.

Gents Doubles –

  • Handicap allowance – 90% of full handicap
  • It is the responsibility of both pairs to make contact
  • Matches that are not played by the specified date (Fri 17th June) will be subject to a coin toss
  • All matches to be played form the blue tees

Mixed Foursomes – 

  • Handicap allowance – half the combined with half shots rounded up
  • It is the responsibility of both pairs to make contact
  • Matches that are not played by the specified date (Sun 19th June) will be subject to a coin toss
  • Ladies to play from red tees, gents to play from white tees

Members who have entered club matchplay competitions are kindly asked to observe the dates in which matches are to be played on or before. Every effort has been made to provide reasonable time between each match to allow for the finals to be played within the golfing season. Any member having difficulty in arranging a match is asked to contact the matchplay committee immediately and not after the date has passed. In the event of a match not having being played a coin will be tossed to determine a winner and allow the next round to take place without interruption. Matchplay committee – Denis Harkin, Brendan Roache & John Casey.

All members please note that the Old Tom Morris Links is reserved from 9.00am-12.00pm seven days for hotel guests, members & green fees can book tee times either side of same by contacting The Pavilion Golf Shop on 074-915-5000 between 8.00am-5.30pm or by email golf@rosapenna.ie
