RUAIDHRI MCGEE’S INTEREST in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open concluded this evening when he failed to make the cut.

However, the 25-year-old Ropapenna Golf Club professional built up some valuable experience at the K Club in Co Kildare, where he shot +3 on Thursday and then +4 for +7 over the two days.

The Derry native, who lives between Carrigart and Belfast, show seven birdies and 20 pars over his 36 holes to finish in a tie for 107th place.

Marc Warren from Scotland and US Masters winner, England’s Danny Willett, lead the way headed into the weekend on -8 with Rory McIlroy just one shot behind on -7.

All three benefitted from playing on Thursday morning and Friday evening, with the weather playing a part.
