ZOE GREEN HAS BEEN included in the Republic of Ireland Under-17 squad for next month’s UEFA European Championship first phase qualifiers in Turkey.

The Lagan Harps full-back has received confirmation of her selection from Dave Connell, the Irish Under-17 manager, for the games against Ukraine (October 15), Andorra (October 17) and Turkey (October 20).

Green was part of the Irish squad that played in the Milk Cup while she played in two friendlies against Scotland earlier this month.

A daughjter of Paddy and Anne Green from Rathmullan, Zoe has been playing for Lagan since the age of 11 and has risen through the ranks of Bríd McGinty’s squads at Orchard Park.

Despite her tender years, she has just finished her second season with the senior team at Lagan.

She was the Donegal Women’s League’s Under-14 Player of the Year in 2013 and a year later won an FAI Schools Senior B All-Ireland with Mulroy College, while she has also turned out for Donegal in the Gaynor Cup.

She was first capped in 2014 by Sharon Boyle when she played in the UEFA Under-16 European Development Tournament against Czech Republic, Denmark and Austria.
