Young Twin Towns boxers meet their idol, Katie Taylor

TWIN TOWNS BOXING CLUB’s Donegal champions Kira and Alicia McMenamin met their idol, Katie Taylor on Friday night at The National Stadium in Dublin.

Taylor won her fifth Irish senior title on Friday, but the European, World and Olympic champion won her first inside the ring as she overcame Shauna O’Keefe in the final.

The Bray lightweight has put women’s boxing on the map and her rise to the top of the world is one of the reasons that young boxers like Kira and Alicia McMenamin can now dream.

The McMenamins were crowned Donegal champions at the finals at the Ozanam Centre, Dunfanaghy.

They were in Dublin to support their club colleague Donna Barr, who lost out in the light-flyweight final to defending champion Lauren Hogan.
