‘We were very together’ – Horgan praises Harps’ resolve after Rovers draw

OLLIE Horgan pointed to the power of the collective after his Finn Harps drew with Shamrock Rovers last night.

Adam Foley’s 55th minute strike, the Dubliner’s seventh goals of the season, earned Harps a point against the champions at Tallaght Stadium.

Foley’s effort cancelled out an early opener from Aaron Greene.

While Rovers bossed the possession stakes, Horgan felt his side was full value for a draw.

“We were very together,” Horgan said.

“Collectively they did well. If we went 2-0, a lot of that could have broken down, but they kept it together.

“I thought that we deserved the point. If we can keep the group together to get enough points rather than get sucked into a relegation battle.  We’re quite realistic in there.

“I though we deserved the draw, on chances yeah, but on possession no.”

Greene slotted home after Kosovar Sadiki gifted possession to the Hoops.

The ability to sake their heads clear was key as Harps clawed back.

Horgan, whose side host Derry City next Friday, said: “When Shamrock Rovers scored early, they could have gone 2-0 up in the next ten minutes. We weathered that storm and ran the luck a little.

“We’ve been 1-0 down before and come back to win, don’t mind win. It was the fact that we didn’t concede the second. It would have been null and void at 2-0.

“It’s a point on the board, but we move on and we will need a hell of a lot more points to stay in this Division.”
