BRETT McGinty finally got his professional journey started on Friday night.
The 22-year-old St Johnston slugger defeated Czech southpaw Jan Ardon on points.
McGinty, who signed with Hennessy Sports last week, took a 59-56 decision after six rounds.
The former Oakleaf amateur, an eight-time Irish champion, had a long wait for his pro debut – and it was a tougher opening than most fighters will have to face.
