NAOMH ULTAN WERE CROWNED Junior Champions last night thanks to Cian Kennedy’s nerveless ’45.

Kennedy kept his cool right at the end to sink Red Hughs and take the silverware back to Dunkineely.

“I thought I was going to put it over. I wanted to hit it,” Kennedy said afterwards.

For Alan Lyons, it was a stomach-churning finale he watched from the stand having come off with seven minutes to go.

At one stage, Naomh Ultan were six up, but Red Hughs battled back and the Dunkineely men needed Kennedy’s late strike to get over the line.

“We’re absolutely delighted,” Lyons said after they clinched a League and Championship double.

“Hopefully we can push on next year in the Intermediate Championship and Division 3.”
