THERE HAVEN’T BEEN many finishes like it.
Kate McGowan from Donegal town (pictured above with her mother Anne) ran an excellent first lap for Dublin City University in the 4 x 400m relay final at the Irish Universities Athletics Track and Field Championships at Morton Stadium last Saturday.
The Tir Chonaill Athletic Club member – who also won the women’s 400m hurdles on Saturday – was in lane 8 starting off but the real drama of the race took place after the bell ahead of the last lap.
The commentators –Â Ronan Duggan and Cathal Dennehy – certainly enjoyed the finish.
