DONEGAL CAPTAIN MICHAEL MURPHY  and James McCarthy of Dublin were both sent off for second yellows last night at Croke Park.

Murphy went in late on Brian Fenton to pick up a second booking and as tempers got frayed, McCarthy was also sent to the line by Conor Lane in Dublin’s 1-10 to 0-7 victory in the Allianz League Division 1.

Television replays showed McCarthy shove his hands into the face of Martin McElhinney, the Donegal substitute. Opinions are different over whether the Dublin wing-back went for McElhinney’s eyes deliberately in push.
