Video: Geraldine McLaughlin’s Ulster final goal makes ‘goal of the year’ reel

AN EXQUISITE GOAL in the Ulster Senior Ladies final by Donegal’s Geraldine McLaughlin has made it onto a reel of the best goals from 2015.

The selection of goals are all from the footage of Jerome Quinn throughout the year and feature some magnificent scores.

McLaughlin’s goal was her first in the 2-12 to 1-10 win over Monaghan at Clones in July when Donegal won their first-ever Ulster Senior Ladies title.

A ball across goal by Amber Barrett was fetched by McLaughlin. Facing away from goal, the Termon forward brilliantly sailed a shot over Linda Martin, the Monaghan goalkeeper.

Quinn has chosen McLaughlin’s strike as his top goal.

“For me, the hardest goal to score was the one by Geraldine McLaughlin,” he said on Facebook.

“The ball came out of the sky and she was running the wrong way when she caught it. Then quick as a flash she somehow screwed the ball over the goalkeeper, with her (arguably) weaker foot.”
