MARK ENGLISH ended his season in style as he broke the one-minute mark for 500m at the Great North City Games in Newcastle.
English won the race in a time of 59.58 seconds, overcoming the likes of American Johnny Dutch and Briton Rabah Yousif in the process.
Yousif had been in the final of the 400m at the World Championships in Beijing last month.
English’s superb display comes just a week after he broke the Irish 600m when he ran 1:15.71 at the Flame Games in Amsterdam.
English has already qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and was thrilled with the end-of-season performance today.
“I’m delighted to be here and delighted to take the win,” said English.
