Crossan substituted his goalkeeper Kyle Burns, with Paddy McGarvey coming on as the game headed for its conclusion. Two minutes before the end of extra time, Athlone were awarded a penalty and Dylan Gavin saw Paddy McGarvey brilliantly beat away his spot-kick.
