STEPHEN McMenamin looks increasingly unlikely to feature in the Ulster SFC final.
The Donegal defender is in a race against time to prove his fitness ahead of Sunday’s clash with Cavan.
The Red Hughs man was withdrawn in the opening minutes of Saturday’s semi-final win over Armagh.
Manager Declan Bonner has described the chances of McMenamin being fit as ‘less than 50-50’.
“It’s looking very doubtful for Stephen,” Bonner conceded.
With Odhrán McFadden-Ferry having been deployed to the Lebanon with the Defence Forces and Conor Morrison on the long-term injury list, Donegal’s defensive options have been diminished.
However, Bonner is hopeful of seeing Paddy McGrath return to training this week.
The 2012 All-Ireland winner missed the weekend’s game due to an injury, but could be back for the final.
Bonner said: “Paddy will get back on the pitch tomorrow night. Fingers crossed, he comes through the week.
“It’s part and parcel of football that injuries do happen. We’ll keep the fingers crossed that we get through this week.”
And Bonner confirmed that forward Patrick McBrearty, who made his return to action from the bench on Saturday, is fighting fit again.
He said: “He’s an important member of the group and it’s great to get him back on the pitch. Another two sessions this week will be important for him.”
