Derry City edged out Finn Harps in a battle of the reserve sides at the Brandywell this afternoon in the Four Lanterns USL.

Great work from Jack Malone and Ronan McKinley on 18 minutes set up Reece McDermott, whose deflected shot beat the keeper at the far post.

Harps came more into the game and had a few good chances through Brown and Corey McBride.

But Derry scored again in the 30th minute with a superb through ball from Jack Malone to Fionn McClure on the left hand side and he finished cooly for Derry second.

Derry almost added a third two minutes into the second half when slack play at the back let Evan Tweed in on goal but he shot wide with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Finn Harps the took the game to Derry after this. Daniel Houghton in the Derry goal brought off two great saves from Brown and Gorman.

They also hit the post and by now Harps were well on top.

Substitutions interrupted the flow of the game, but centre half Keenan Diver scored on the 89th minute for Harps, but it just came too late and Derry held out for three points.
