RACHAEL Darragh is into two semi-finals at the Portuguese International Championships

Darragh will take her place in the semi-finals of the women’s singles and the women’s doubles after two excellent wins at Caldas da Rainha.

The Donegal ace defeated number three seed Wiktoria Dabczynska from Poland in her singles quarter-final.

The Raphoe woman claimed an excellent 21-7 21-14 win to seal a place in the last four, where she will face the top seed Sabrina Jaquet from Switzerland.

Yesterday, she saw off Sofia Setim from Portugal 21-17 21-12 and Switzerland’s Indira Dickhaeuser 21-11 21-10.

Darragh teamed up with Sara Boyle in the women’s doubles and they, too, will be in the semi-finals.

Darragh and Boyle took an impressive win over Poland’s Dominika Kwasnik and Magdalena Swierczynska.

The Irish duo – who were 21-12 21-8 winners against Portugal’s Catarina Cristina and Catarina M Martins yesterday – won the first game 21-14 and surged 11-4 in front by the interval of the second before winning 21-7.

They now face Scotland’s Eleanor O’Donnell and Sarah Sidebottom in the semi-finals.

The semi-finals take place later today.
