A brilliant second-half performance by Coláiste Ailigh saw them reach the semi-finals of the Danske Bank O’Doherty Cup.

Coláiste Ailigh 2-10 Lumen Christi 1-6

Oisin McGarvey hit two goals in part two as Coláiste Ailigh came from behind to win.

Ben McCarron, who made a scintillating start to his Derry senior career in the McKenna Cup earlier this month, scored a first-half goal as Lumen Christi led 1-4 to 0-5 at the break.

Sean Breen’s brace of points helped to keep Coláiste Ailigh in touch – before the Letterkenny scholars took over.

McCarron landed two scores in the second half, but that was the sum total of the Lumen Christi efforts.

McGarvey bagged a goal early in the second half and added another late in the day to complete the excellent performance.

McGarvey, Sean Breen, Ronan McGeehin, Diarmuid Cahill and Tony Gallagher were all on the mark with points for Coláiste Ailigh in the second half.

Coláiste Ailigh: Sean Devenney; Michael O’Connor, Ross Marley, Padraig Devenney; Rory McGinty, Donal Higgins, Liam Hannigan, Sean Breen, Oisin McGarvey; Thomas McCrossan, Iarlaith McGinley, Diarmuid Cahill; Sean Ryan, Ronan McGeehin, Tony Gallagher. Subs: Conor McMenamin for McCrossan, Paddy Gallagher for Cahill.
