The Twitter reaction to Donegal’s Super 8 defeat to Tyrone in Ballybofey

Donegal fans were, in the main, taking the season’s positives on Twitter this evening after a disappointing Super 8 defeat to Tyrone in Ballybofey ended the Championship campaign for Declan Bonner’s team.

Donegal had to win to advance to a semi-final clash with Monaghan, but it’s Mickey Harte’s Tyrone who will have their tickets punched to Croke Park after they claimed a 2-17 to 1-13 win at Sean MacCumhaill Park.

Donegal are left to look back on what has been a largely positive summer that saw the return of the Anglo Celt to the county.

Thanks to Declan Bonner and all of the @officialdonegal squad for giving the county a great lift this year #UlsterChampions The future is bright for the senior team

A bitter pill for Donegal to swallow but a very young, talented squad won an Ulster title & laid down a serious marker for years ahead

Thank you @donegalgaa for a great year

Be kind to them folks & focus on magical moments they’ve given us#gaa #DONvTYR #RTEGAA #sundaygame

Very disappointing end to the championship for #donegalgaa, a young team, the future looks bright & they'll have good days to come. Declan Bonner deserves a lot of credit for what he's achieved so far with their style of play. Best of luck #MonaghanGAA next weekend.

I hear a lot about these so called soft soccer boys but I could’ve sworn Neymar was on the pitch in Ballybofey today. #donegalvtyrone #gaa

Tough one to take but Tyrone that but more advanced than us at this stage. Lee Brennan & the other subs made a huge impact. Still a great year for Declan & the lads. Onwards and upwards!

Donegal ran out of legs in last 20 mins and there's no argument with 2-5 off the bench. Tyrone's conditioning, if nothing else, rivals the Dubs. Looking ahead to next wkd, you'd imagine that Harte has been working on some sort of plan for McManus since the middle of May.

Tyrone have got 6-13 from their bench in their last four games – an average of nearly eight points per match.

If Mattie Donnelly could hit a dead ball he would have a reputation like Michael Murphy and Tyrone would be much more dangerous #DONvTYR

You actually can’t help but admire Mickey Harte and what he has achieved.
It’s the sign of a good manager that can build good teams again and again.

Brought my 10 year old sister to her first home Donegal game today and her questions weren’t about the game , it was why the Tyrone fans are cursing and getting angry beside her. Different breed of people and dam hard to listen to!
