DONEGAL HAVE been handed a tricky draw in the 2017 Bank of Ireland Dr McKenna Cup.

Rory Gallagher’s team have been paired in Section C alongside Tyrone, Cavan and Ulster University, Jordanstown.

UUJ are managed by former Donegal footballer and Kilcar manager Martin McHugh, whose panel contains Donegal players Ryan McHugh, Eoin McHugh and Patrick McBrearty.

Michael Murphy had been said to be lining out for UUJ this season, but the Donegal skipper has opted not to pursue the psychology course he had enrolled in.

Gallagher is expected to use the competition to blood some of the 11 new players he has introduced to his panel for the 2017 season.
