THREE RIVERS SHOTOKAN CLUB LIFFORD returned to Dublin at the weekend to take part in the ONAKAI National Championships 2015.

ONAKAI recognised by the Sports council of Ireland as the governing body of Irish karate sees all the different disciplines of karate in Ireland come under the one umbrella for this event

With the recent announcement that Karate has been nominated as an Olympic sport for the first time in Tokyo 2020 there is now a massive push from competitors all across the Country to really up their game so the standard on the day was always going to be at a very high.
As per normal the young members of Three Rivers didn’t fail to impress as they returned home with two-silver medalist (Emma Dolan and Natasha Doherty) and three Bronze medals (Ryan Doherty, Jamie-Lee Simpson and Ciarán Crawford) in this Kumite only event.
Next up for the team from the Northwest is a trip to Belgium in three weeks time an event which will see Natasha Doherty represent Ireland for the first time under the ONAKAI banner.
Three Rivers train every Monday and Wednesday nights in the Resource Centre, Lifford. New members are always welcome.
