Three in the running for Referees’ Administrator position

THREE CANDIDATES WILL GO before Monday night’s meeting of the Donegal county committee seeking to become the new Refeees’ Administrator.

Martin McKinley, Michelle Bennett and Shane Toolan have been confirmed as the people in the running to replace Pat Walsh, who had to step down at last month’s convention having completed his term in office.

Walsh served the maximum five years in the position and clubs will vote on his successor on Monday night.

McKinley hails from the Naomh Colmcille club and has sought this position in the past. The Newtowncunningham man, a former referee, is the father of 2012 All-Ireland-winning panellist Thomas McKinley.

Bennett is an Ardara member who was the secretary of the Donegal Referees’ Administration Committee in Walsh’s tenure while she has been involved in the Southern Regional Board over the years.

Toolan is a currently active member of the referees’ panel from the Aodh Ruadh club.
