THREE sports clubs in Donegal have temporarily suspended activities in Covid-19 precautions.

The Kilcar GAA club and soccer clubs Cockhill Celtic and Donegal Town FC confirmed last evening that they have put similar measures in place.

Kilcar said: “As precautionary measure all club activities at CLG Chill Chartha, including training and games are suspended until further notice.”

Cockhill, the recently-crowned Ulster Senior League champions, said: “We have been informed that someone within our area is being tested for covid and they have close links with our club.

“As a safety precaution we are suspending all training & matches until further notice. We will update when the result is known.”

Donegal Town have suspended activity for a second time, having recently taken a similar precaution. The club’s underage teams are stood down until September 13 following the first placing of a temporary suspension.

Last night, the club said: “As a precautionary measure all activity within Donegal Town FC has been temporarily suspended from 26th August 2020 (today) until further notice.

“This is due to an adult player following the COVID test protocol. We expect a result over the weekend and will inform all as soon as possible of that result.

“This suspension includes astro pitch use (rental).”

Earlier this week, the Naomh Columba GAA club in Glencolmcille suspended activity as a precaution but last night confirmed that a Covid-19 test returned negative. The Pairc na nGael outfit has resumed activity ‘with full compliance to GAA & HSE guidelines’.

On Monday, Naomh Muire confirmed a return to action after they also stood down activity as a precaution.
