Thomas McMonagle has confirmed that he has left Finn Harps with immediate effect.
The versatile 26-year-old had become increasingly frustrated at the lack of game time he had been afford.
McMonagle started just two games this season – the EA Sports Cup games against Cockhill Celtic and Sligo Rovers – and has decided to move on.
The Burnfoot native pondered his future in the winter, when he spent a short time at his native Aileach FC, before having his arm turned by the Harps manager, Ollie Horgan.
McMonagle first played for Harps in 2012 and leaves having made 107 appearances for Harps, scoring seven goals in that time.
[adrotate group=”91″]“I’m going to enjoy the non-hectic schedule for a while now,” McMonagle told Donegal Sport Hub, confirming that he had not decided on his next move in the game.
“I enjoyed my time at Harps and I want to thank the fans for their support all through my time at the club. It was great to get a chance to play for a club like Finn Harps, but it’s time now to move on.”
McMonagle’s departure is a further blow to Horgan, who has an already depleted hand to play against Bohemians tomorrow night.
[adrotate group=”46″]Horgan is without Danny Morrissey, Ciaran O’Connor, Jonny Bonner, BJ Banda, Packie Mailey and Harry Doherty while Paddy McCourt, Barry Molloy and Eddie Dsane are classed as doubtful.
With Mailey absent and McMonagle gone, Horgan is particularly light now on defensive cover.
