SAM AND CHLOE MAGEE have qualified for the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles at the Scottish Open Grand Prix at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena.

The Raphoe siblings will now meet seventh seeds, Gaetan Mittelheisser and Audrey Fontaine from France in the third of this evening’s session of five matches, which get underway at 5pm.

The Irish pair, seeded four, had too much for England’s Matthew Nottingham and Emily Westwood 21-14, 18-21, 22-20.

Yesterday, Chloe, who was sixth seed, went down 21-18, 21-14 to France’s Delphine Lansac in the first round of the women’s singles competition.

Joshua Magee – a younger brother of Chloe and Sam – lost out in the men’s singles in the first round against 14th seed David Obernosterer from Austria on a 21-16, 21-13 scoreline.

Sam and Joshua also teamed up for the men’s doubles, only to be defeated by Polish duo Milosz Bochat and Lukasz Moren 21-23, 21-15, 21-19, on Thursday.
