Termon post impressive win over St Eunan’s to seal Under-13 Championship

TERMON WERE THIS afternoon crowned County Division 1 Under-13 champions following their victory over St Eunan’s in Convoy.

Termon 4-13 St Eunan’s 1-6

The side from the Burn Road, who defeated the Letterkenny team 1-16 to 1-9 in the Northern final, were deserving winners at St Mary’s Park.

In a 13-a-side contest, a goal Marcus Toye on 11 minutes set the maroon and white in motion. Toye was first to react as a dropping free from Stephen Black didn’t have the legs to get over the crossbar – but it worked out well for Termon.

That made the score 1-3 to 0-2 for Termon, with Seamus Grant opening well.

St Eunan’s got back into the game when Eoin Dowling, who was their most effective player, managed to score a goal on 25 minutes, only for Stephen Black – just a minute later – to goal for Termon when he drilled into the bottom corner after a great run from deep.

The half-time score was 2-4 to 1-3 for Termon.

In the second half, Termon managed to extend their lead when they just kept chipping over points to keep themselves in front. Jamie Grant was having a fine game in the middle, ably assisted by the Black brothers, Conor and Stephen, while Ciaran Tobin and David McGowan were central to St Eunan’s good work.

Then, with just five minutes to go, Mark Gallagher scored a third goal with a rebound after Aaron Gallagher struck the post. Then, a minute later, Mark Gallagher scored his second and Termon’s fourth when he rounded off a pass from Stephen Black.

St Eunan’s lost Caolan Collier, who had been repositioned out the field, to a late red card for a high challenge on Grant. But it was Termon’s
