Successful period for Letterkenny AC juveniles

Letterkenny AC juveniles have been busy over the last two weeks with outdoor track season in full swing.

Letterkenny AC were the hosts to a very successful Donegal Championship held at the Aura on the May bank holiday Monday with large numbers of competitors from Donegal clubs. Leitrim and Enniskillen entered in both track and field events. 

LAC Juveniles were well represented with some excellent performances on the day, with 11 athletes taking home medals.

Many older juveniles did not compete due to School District a few days later. 

Michaela Galvin, a talented young athlete who had an outstanding day of performances in the U17 Events took home three gold in the 100 m, Long Jump and Triple Jump. 

Following her sisters success was Mark Galvin who took home two medals. Mark tried a new event, the Javelin and was delighted to take home the Gold.

Mark competed in the U13 600m race and again displayed talent and determination coming up the finish line to take a Silver.

Stephanie Okoh competed in the U17 100m race, running out of age but gave a great performance to take home Silver and also won Bronze in the Long Jump.

Emma Price won Bronze in a Competitive U15 Girls 100m race. 

Emma Bonnar, competing out of age in the U13 Girls 600m, won Silver and also finished 6th in 80m.

Katie McGee ran in the U17 Girls 800 m and won Silver. Anna Boyle won Gold in the U19 Girls 800m.

Philip McGee won Silver in the U15 Boys 800m Combined with U17/19 Boys.

Alex Plumb won bronze in the U13 Boys Shot Putt, and finished 5th in the 80m and Long Jump.


Harry Shields, also running out of age won Bronze in the U13 600m and finished 4th in 400m and 6th in the Long Jump.

Congratulations to Patrick McDaid, Mollie Page. Evan Keown (Loreto Milford), Emma Price (Mulroy College), Jack Holian (Errigal College), David Smith, (St Eunans), Michaela Galvin, Chloe Shiels, Gillian Reynolds, (Loreto Letterkenny), who have all qualified for the Ulster Schools this Saturday in Antrim Forum. 

Well Done to Billy Black, Ronan Kelly, Anna Boyle Tiegan Smith and Aimee Bonar who also competed at schools.

Four juveniles competed at the Donegal Senior Championships in the 1500m. David Smith (U19), Jack Holian (U17) and Philip McGee (U15) all ran in a combined race with each of boys taking home Gold in the age appropriate race and new PBs.

Katie McGee came 3rd in the U17 Girls.
