Success for Donegal students as Ulster Cross-Country proves huge hit at Finn Valley AC

THE grounds at the Finn Valley Centre, Stranorlar proved an ideal venue for the annual District Schools Cross-Country Championships on Tuesday.

Donegal schools were joined by schools from Derry and Antrim to make a total entry list of 850 for what was the first-ever staging of this event in Donegal.

The fine weather and dry underfoot conditions added to the occasion and there were many exciting team and individual battles .

The local Finn Valley AC team, who organise an open invitation schools cross meeting on these grounds each September, had excellent support from school staff of those involved.

Donegal individual athletes to the fore were Gillian Reynolds (Loreto, Letterkenny), Sean McGinley (St Eunans College), Karen Gallagher (Mulroy College, Milford) and Paddy McDaid (St Eunan’s).

The team and individual winners now progress to finals at Mallusk in February.
