DONEGAL’S DARTS teams had good success at The West Coast Challenge at the weekend.

Competing in The Bush Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon, the Donegal men took victory, as did the Donegal Youths while the Donegal Ladies lost out in the final.

The Donegal men (pictured above) came through a group involving Leitrim, Sligo, Roscomon and Longford.

They defeated Leitrim 9-3 and Longford 10-2, but lost 7-5 against Sligo.

In the semi-final they defeated Roscommon 7-5 with Michael Leech landing the winning darts.

In the final, they overcame Sligo 7-4. The decisive arrow was again landed by Leech, whose 88 checkout sealed the title.

The Donegal Ladies (above) got through a group involving Leitrim, Galway and Mayo to reach the final, but they were just beaten 4-2 in the decider.

The Donegal Youths emerged from a group with Roscommon and Westmeath before defeating Donegal ‘B’ in the semi-final.

Among the Donegal Youths’ (below) crew was Jordan Boyce, who competed in the World Youth final at the Lakeside earlier this month. His father, Paddy, was a member of the Donegal men’s team.
