An impressive second-half display helped to fire Milford United into the final of the John ‘Gorey’ Curran Cup at the expense of Bonagee United last night.

Goals by Ryan Toye, Ryan Flood and Rory O’Donnell shot Joe Ferry’s team (pictured above) through to the decider.

It was no more than they deserved after they came alive following a first half that saw Bonagee with the better chances at Dry Arch Park.

Adam Hannaway might have given Bonagee the lead in the 10th minute, but he headed wide from a glorious position after connecting to an Aaron Wasson cross from the right-hand side.

Milford defended well and a cagey first half was devoid of chances again until the final minute when Milford netminder Josh Pond was forced into a save by Wasson’s first-time shot after he’d been teed up by Matthew De Cook.

Pond again thwarted Daniel Stolarcyzk early in the second half and De Cook just failed to get a touch to a Hannaway cross as Bonagee (above) probed.

Flood forced Bonagee ‘keeper Kyle Gormley into a save when he touched his attempt onto the post. It was a moment that enriched Milford and when Darragh Green held off two defenders to get a shot away on the hour, Gormley was again called to arms.

Milford hit the front on 64 minutes when Green scampered down the right and swung over for Toye to hammer home.

De Cook did well to get a shot away, but Pond made the save while Gormley twice denied Green before the lead was doubled 20 minutes from time as Flood converted from a cross by sub Andreas Axfentiou.

On 82 minutes, they added a third when Toye turned provider for O’Donnell to head in.
