St Michael’s stave off strong Milford comeback for home victory

St Michael’s held on to stave off a Milford comeback in an entertaining derby at The Bridge.

St. Michael’s 1-18 Milford 4-6

Andrew Kelly put the Bridge men ahead in the first minute but it was Milford who made the stronger start with a point from Darragh Black and a Shane Barrett goal putting them into a three-point league.  

St. Michael’s hot back with a goal and point from Michael Cannon before a controversial goal from Darragh Black restored the visitors’ advantage.

St. Michael’s took the advantage from then on adding further points from Andrew Kelly, Martin McElhinney, Michael Cannon and Daniel McColgan to leave the half time score St. Michael’s 1-9 Milford 2-2.

Colin McFadden scored the first score of the second half for St. Michael’s and they raced into a comfortable lead with points from Colin McFadden, Michael McGinley and Andrew Kelly before late goals from Barrett and David Curley and a points from Barrett and Curley set up a tense finish. 

Three late points from Andrew Kelly settled the issue and St. Michael’s held on to win in the gathering gloom on a scoreline of St. Michael’s 1-18 Milford 4-6 to extend their unbeaten run.
