ST MICHAEL’S CLINCHED THEIR first-ever All-County Football League Division 1 title yesterday evening thanks to a big win over St Eunan’s at Colaiste Ailigh.

Eddie Harkin’s team recorded a 5-11 to 0-14 win over the under-strength Eunan’s, who are just a week out from the Donegal SFC final against Naomh Conaill.

Michael Cannon and Lee Carr netted goals in the first-half as the Creeslough-Dunfanaghy team laid down a marker.

Carr bagged a second while Christy Toye and Martin McElhinney also got in on the act with three-pointers on a historic night for the Bridge men.

With the exception of a county title in Comortas Peile na Gaeltachta, this represents their first senior trophy and comes after a season that has seen them lose only twice in the League up to this point.

They disappointingly lost out to St Eunan’s in the Championship semi-final, but the return of some silverware will be welcomed to the club.

Colm McFadden landed three points while Michael Langan hit two and Carr top scored with 2-2.

There were big wins for relegation-threatened Malin, Ardara and Four Masters.

Malin defeated under-strength Kilcar 4-14 to 0-10 with Dan McDaid, Anthony Kelly, Brendan McLaughlin and Conor Byrne on the mark with goals.

Ardara defeated county finalists Naomh Conaill 1-09 to 1-05 with Martin Shovlin hitting the Ardara goal at the start of the second half.

After Brendan Boyle rattled the post with a goal chance for Ardara, Leo McLoone struck the post from a penalty at the other end. McLoone edged Naomh Conaill ahead, but Ardara led 0-6 to 1-2 at the break and Shovlin’s fired in a crucial goal for John McConnell’s team.

A big final quarter from Four Masters saw them defeat Glenswilly 4-13 to 0-06 at Tir Chonaill Park.

Another side threatened with the drop, Four Masters had early goals from Michael Doherty and Sean Meehan and they were 2-4 to 0-4 ahead at half-time

Glenswilly stayed in touch, but when Doherty netted his second goal and Dillon Muldoon also fired home, it was game, set and match for Four Masters.
