St Johnston put Premiership place on the line at The Bleechgreen

ST JOHNSTON are on the verge of being relegated back to the Championship, but Ian Macbeth’s team will fight tooth and nail in their last two games for the Premiership survival.

The Donegal side – who have won just twice this season, against Ardmore and Bready – have Ardmore and Eglinton to play.

On Saturday, they head for The Bleechgreen to take on Ardmore.

It’s must-win for St Johnston, who have not been daunted by the return to the top flight, although their form on the road has been a big downfall, with both their wins recorded on the Railway Road.

Even two wins may not be enough to save the Saints, but for now victory in Ardmore is the aim.

They put up a big fight against Strabane last weekend and were beaten by just 19 runs.
Michael Rankin has returned from injury and his display – hitting 55 runs – showed how his absence has hurt.

Ardmore aren’t mathematically safe just yet, but the Saints are in the mire and Macbeth – who scored 45 himself last week – will need his men to pull out all the stops if they’re to make their own version of the great escape in the next two weekends.
