ST EUNAN’S 5-15 NAOMH CONAILL 2-3

St. Eunan’s U-14 boys footballers booked their place in the All County League Final, overcoming Naomh Conaill by 5-15 to 2-3 at a stormy Páirc Taobhoige, Glenfin on Friday evening.

Eunan’s, playing against a strong first half wind, adjusted to the conditions quickly and opened the scoring through a second minute point from captain Daragh Ellison.  Their first goal came on 15 minutes after a tidy finish from Jordan Nugent which made the score 1-3 to no score in Eunans’ favour.  They tagged on five further points in the first half, leaving the half time score St. Eunan’s 1-8 Naomh Conaill 0-0.

The second half continued in much the same vein as the first as Eunan’s made the most of the wind advantage to add four further goals.  Their second green flag came from midfielder Pádraig McGettigan, closely followed by a Daragh Ellison goal.  Noamh Conaill, who never stopped trying got their reward with two second half goals, the first from the impressive Nathan Byrne.  Naomh Conaill added a second goal which was quickly followed by a Jonathan Coady strike to the net for the Letterkenny side.

St. Eunan’s continued to dominate in tough conditions and excellent points from Rory McGinty, Shane O’Donnell and Darragh Ellison preceded their fifth goal which came from Dylan Doogan with virtually the last kick of the game.  Final score St. Eunan’s 5-15 Naomh Conaill 2-3.

Eunan’s now move on to face Urris in the final after they overcame Killybegs after extra time in the other semi final.
