It is 10 years since St Eunan’s College featured in the Loch an Iúir Ulster Colleges Under 14½ final.
Having gone out at the semi-final stage of the Colmcille Cup last year against a close encounter with St Columb’s Derry the young Sentry Hill students are delighted to reach the final this time out.
[adrotate group=”53″]After a strong start with convincing wins over St. Mary’s CBS, Belfast and Castleblaney, it was back to basics against St. Mary’ s Magherafelt as both teams may have had exciting forwards but both defences needed attention after conceding a blitz of goals.
Both of these finalists have met already and it was a close encounter with Patrician High, Carrickmacross winning the first half battle by 1-6 to 0-2 but St Eunan’s put in a great second half to win 1-12 to 1-9.
[adrotate group=”46″]In the quarter-finals St Eunan’s overcame a spirited performance by St Joseph’s, Donaghmore. The semi-final was a much closer affair and the goals an important stages made the difference against a team who were averaging six goals a game, St Malachy’s College, Castlewellen, but the Co Down team found the College defence a hard nut to crack.
The final will be played in the Omagh area on Tuesday, December 13, at 12 noon.

St. Eunan’s have a strong team ethic as every member of the panel has played in this competition and has been built on premise of all players looking to play in the game.
Killian Gribben, the goalkeeper, has made a huge difference to the defence commanding his area and some notable saves. Oran Brogan (Captain) as the central defender has been very flexible and as well as being strong in defence he can attack with great zest. Jack Gallagher the Glenswilly man has been exceptional especially in his ability to turnover forwards.
[adrotate group=”89″]Midfield players Noel O’ Donnell and Jack Roarty have fielded superbly and have learned to spray the ball efficiently. Up front the College has great movement with Callum Friel, Shane Monaghan Keelan Collier, Emmet O’Boyle in great form.
Even on the bench there is great talent as players who have come on have played very well. The management team Gary Mc Daid and Eddie Harvey feel this will be another close encounter: Patrician College, Carrickmacross have given a good account of themselves in all matches and especially in the semi- Final they overcame a strong attacking team in Holy Trinity College, Cookstown.
