THE Under-14 Championship final will be a repeat of the Northern Board showpiece following wins for St Eunan’s and Gaoth Dobhair in their respective semi-finals on Monday night.

The Letterkenny side overcame Ardara 5-11 to 0-7 in Glenfin. St Eunan’s, minus injured captain Daragh Ellison, were 1-8 to 0-4 in front at the break with Conor O’Donnell scoring the only goal of the half on 19 minutes.

Joe Higgins’ team scored three goals in succession at the start of the second half with Jordan Nugent, Pauric McGettigan and Ronan Daly on the mark, before Oisin Bradley added a fifth late on.

Ardara were best served by Peter Bennett, Iarla Murphy and Daniel Gallagher.

Gaoth Dobhair were 3-9 to 0-11 winners against Killybegs in Ardara with Liam McFadden’s fine personal total of two goals and three minutes vital.

The side from Fintra, managed by Slua Boyle and Manus Boyle, settled into an early five-point lead with Odhran McGuinness, who scored 1-4 against Ardara last week in the Southern Under-14 Division 1 final, a key figure.

Gaoth Dobhair, who trailed 0-7 to 0-4 at half-time, managed to turn it around in the second half with the wind at their backs. McFadden goaled first of all when the ball came his way on 46 minutes.

Cathal Gillespie then added a second goal as time wore thin before McFadden’s second sealed the seven-point Gaoth Dobhair win, one that looked more comfortable on the scoreboard than it did on the pitch.

When St Eunan’s and Gaoth Dobhair met in the Northern Under-14 Division 1 final last Monday week, with the team from the Cathedral town winning on a 7-8 to 0-5 scoreline.
